Orange Hall, located in Newton, Auckland, was designed by Arthur Sinclair O’Connor and constructed in 1922. The building is associated with Orangeism, a Protestant organisation whose origins in Auckland date back to 1840. During the 1930s-1950s the Orange Coronation Hall became renowned as a ballroom dancing venue, a sprung tawa dance floor contributing to this reputation.
DPA Architects were appointed as Heritage Architects in the refurbishment of the building, which formed the centrepiece of a larger mixed-use development.
The project was the recipient of a Te Kāhui Whaihanga New Zealand Institute of Architects Auckland Architecture Award for Heritage in 2016.
